About Molecular Biology
Molecular testing looks for the genetic material of a germ, or of you, instead of waiting for the body to react to it. That is why an RT-PCR can confirm an infection very early, and why a viral load tells your doctor exactly how much virus is in the blood rather than only whether it is present.
Extraction and amplification are carried out in separate areas with a one-way sample flow to prevent contamination, and every run includes positive and negative controls alongside your sample.
What we test here
- Viral load: HBV, HCV and HIV
- Respiratory and fever PCR panels
- Tuberculosis and mycobacterial detection
- HPV and STI PCR testing
- Selected genetic and hereditary targets
Sample types
- Blood (plasma and whole blood)
- Throat and nasopharyngeal swabs
- Urine
- Tissue and body fluids
How it is done
- Automated nucleic acid extraction
- Real-time PCR (RT-PCR and qPCR)
- Amplification controls on every run
